J.D. Curtis

Captain Curtis recently retired from the Houston Fire Department with 31 years of service. (May '03) He was a Senior Captain and is well respected from all who have had the opportunity to work with him.

Captain Curtis spent his time "piping" in District 8;  was a chauffeur at station 7;  a Captain at station 19 and a Senior at 19's and 46's. Captain Curtis was one of the brightest leaders who would never ask any of his crew to do anything he wouldn't do himself. If there was work to be done, he would be the first to take it on.

There is a well believed rumor that he has pulled more people out of house fires than anyone else in the history of the fire department, but records and rewards weren't kept at that time. If asked about this, it's almost guaranteed that he would respond with something like, "Well, that's the job isn't it?"

We're proud that we're still able to keep in touch with Captain Curtis, and at every opportunity we remind him he is missed at Station 46.
